"My nipple" , male nude drawing in pencil on paper

From a client of a gallery in Rome (where I already exhibited my male nude drawings) I was commissioned to render a finger of a strong female hand touching a male nipple. I made two versions of this drawing and at the end one of them was bought by the gallery owner because he fought with the client.

I asked a friend of mine to take some photographs of another mutual friend who had to move her finger towards my nipple, needless to say, we loughed all the time.

After a lot of fun and loughter I chose a photograph to print on paper so that I could carry out my work.

When I was alone (with them it would have been impossible to work) I started this drawing. I just used Derwent graphite pencils on Fabriano paper and never blended.

I began with light regular strokes trying to fill all the drawing, I generally use a 4H pencil for this preliminary work. After finishing I added other layers of slightly softer pencils such as 2H and H, putting a sheet of paper under my hand to avoid spoiling the work.

I tried to darken the area under the forefinger that is much darker and also the area of the rib.

I drew the nipple with softer pencils such as B, 2B, 3B, 4B with sharp points to render the little folds in the skin and the very small swellings in this particular part of the body. I used the point of an eraser to took away some graphite and show up the little parts of the nipple that take most light.

I like to draw the male nude figure in a realistic way.

I drew the nails with harder sharp pointed pencils and used softer pencils for the shadows on the fingers, always with light strokes in order to render the smooth texture of the skin.

I sprayed the final drawing with fixative.
